Docs Set up

Getting started

Install LogicWeft Salon on your WooCommerce site and run the setup wizard: salon details, hours, stylists, services and a booking page.

LogicWeft Salon adds salon booking and a front desk app to the WooCommerce site you already have. Services are WooCommerce products and appointments are WooCommerce orders, so your payment gateways, taxes, coupons and emails keep working as they do.

What you need

  • WordPress 6.6 or later
  • WooCommerce 9.5 or later, installed and active
  • PHP 8.1 or later

LogicWeft Salon works with any theme. The booking widget takes on your theme's fonts and fits the space you give it; the Operator App, which your staff use, has its own full-screen page.

Install the plugin

  1. Install and activate WooCommerce, if it isn't already.
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for LogicWeft Salon, then choose Install Now and Activate. You can also download it from the WordPress.org Plugin Directory and upload the zip.
  3. A notice appears at the top of the screen with a Set up your salon button. It opens the setup wizard. You can also open it any time from LogicWeft Salon → Set up.

The wizard's first step checks your site: WooCommerce, WordPress and PHP versions, order storage, the checkout page, your theme, pretty permalinks and whether the store is visible. Fix anything it flags before you go on.

Tip: Want to look around before entering your own salon? Tick Load the demo salon in the wizard's Demo salon step. See The demo salon below.

Run the setup wizard

The wizard has six short steps. The first two are needed; the rest can be skipped and done later.

StepWhat you enter
SalonYour salon's name, address and time zone.
HoursOpening hours for each day of the week.
StaffUp to five stylists: name, email, level and whether clients can book them online.
ServicesUp to five services: name, length in minutes and price.
DemoLoad the demo salon, or skip.
Booking pageLogicWeft Salon creates and publishes a page called "Book an appointment" with the booking widget.

A few things worth knowing:

  • Stylists are added by name. Enter the email of someone's WordPress user to link their login and give them the Salon staff role; without one, they are booked and shown but can't open the Operator App. LogicWeft Salon never creates WordPress users: add them first under Users → Add New User (see Staff and roles).
  • Hours: by default each new stylist works the salon's hours. Change a stylist's hours, breaks and leave later under LogicWeft Salon → Staff.
  • Services you add here are given to every stylist straight away, so you can take bookings at once. You can say who does what later.

When you finish the last step, your booking page is live. The last screen links to it and to the Operator App.

The demo salon

The demo salon, Luma Hair & Spa, fills LogicWeft Salon with six stylists, 40 services in five categories, 60 clients and two weeks of appointments: the past week finished and paid, the coming week booked. It is the quickest way to see the Today board, the calendar and day close with real-looking data.

  • Demo clients have no email address, so no confirmation or reminder goes to anyone.
  • Demo stylists have no WordPress logins, and no users are created or deleted.
  • Removing the demo deletes only what it added, including its appointment orders. Orders real customers place for demo services are kept.

If you use WP-CLI, wp logicweft-salon demo seed, wp logicweft-salon demo remove and wp logicweft-salon demo reset do the same from the command line. Run them as an administrator, for example wp logicweft-salon demo seed --user=admin.

What to do next

  1. Check your services and stylists. Each service is a WooCommerce product of the type Salon service. Set its length and buffers, and who does it: see Services and stylists.
  2. Set your booking rules: slot length, how far ahead clients can book, and how much notice you need. See Booking rules.
  3. Choose how clients pay: online in full, at the salon, or either. See Payments and cancellations.
  4. Open the Operator App on the front desk tablet. See The Operator App.
  5. Pick a look under LogicWeft Salon → Appearance: a palette, shapes and fonts for the booking widget, the app and the emails.
